Meet Deborah
Deborah Johnson is a plant-based, trauma-informed Community Nutritionist with a Master of Science in Nutrition. She founded My Temple Wellness (MTW) in 2018.
MTW is a holistic wellness company whose mission is to improve health education in order to alleviate, and eliminate the potential health risks among vulnerable populations. Deborah is committed to the journey of helping people make lasting changes by adopting healthy habits for life, at their respective levels of readiness. She believes that when individuals, families, and communities are empowered with nutrition education, they generally make better decisions to increase their lifespan and live quality lives. Her goal is to increase the knowledge, attitudes, behaviors, and health outcomes of the communities she serves through nutrition literacy.
Deborah believes that "The body is a temple of God and we must treat it well." This belief is also the inspiration for the business name "My Temple Wellness."

UPCOMING EVENTS
2nd Book Release Date Coming Soon!
The Adventures with Little Chef Debbie continues as the founder of My Temple Wellness and Author Deborah Johnson prepares to release the 2nd book in her children's book series about food and nutrition called "My Neighborhood, Your Neighborhood."
In a nation where childhood obesity is constantly on the rise, it is imperative that we increase the nutrition literacy of our children. This 2nd book will begin the conversation about food insecurity, which is one of the major factors for childhood obesity. A 2017 study found that children between the age of eight and ten from homes that do not have easy access to healthy food are five times more likely to be obese compared to those from households that have enough food. Obesity increases the risk of several debilitating, and deadly diseases, including type 2 diabetes, and heart disease.
CLIENTS AND PARTNERS
Here is what one client had to say:
"It is my pleasure to give Deborah Johnson my highest possible recommendation. In the fields of youth service and education, it is rare to come across an educator who has mastered the ability to achieve the ideal balance between motivating students to learn, maintaining high expectations, providing students ownership and creative freedom, treating students with respect, and having fun-all in the same moment. Deborah Johnson is one of those gifted educators who is able to balance all of this. Deborah’s competence and ability to work with various age groups that extend beyond school age and into adults and older adults, has been evident by her contributions through the North West Bronx Food Justice Coalition."
